Start and return
- Open Home and tap Start black screen. On first use, allow Display over other apps in Android settings, then return to Black Screen.
- Choose Pure black, With clock or Custom text. Double-tap the overlay to return, or use Stop in its persistent notification.
- If pocket detection is enabled, uncover the proximity sensor first. If biometric exit protection is enabled, complete the Android authentication prompt.
This is an overlay, not physical display power-off. Background audio depends on the media app and any subscription it requires.
Choose and size a clock
- Open Style and choose a digital, analog or text face. Each thumbnail uses the actual face renderer.
- Use the phone preview to position the clock. Change the face scale, text size, font, date, colors, opacity and available effects.
- Tap Apply to save the look to the overlay. Undo or reset if you need to return to the previous setup. Premium faces require active trial, rewarded or subscription access.
Record camera video under a black overlay
- Open the recorder from Home or Tools. Select camera mode and a supported front or rear camera.
- Choose quality, frame rate, optional microphone audio and duration. Allow the requested recording permissions.
- Tap the camera start option while the app is visible. Start with black screen to cover the display with a temporary pure black overlay.
- Android keeps its camera/microphone privacy indicator and a recording notification. Double-tap to exit a recording black overlay; this stops and saves that video. Use the separate camera-without-black-screen mode for pause, resume and Stop & save. Stop the recording before closing the app.
- Open Library to play, share or delete the saved MP4. The temporary recording overlay does not replace your saved clock style.
Recording availability, resolution and frame rates depend on device hardware and Android restrictions. Respect the privacy and consent of people you record.
Screen recording is a separate mode
Screen mode records what Android allows you to capture. Accept Android’s capture dialog for that session. If you want the entire display and overlay, choose the entire-screen option. Copyright-protected or secure content can be blacked out by Android. The app supports optional microphone audio; it does not capture internal app audio.
Floating control and Home options
Enable the floating button from Home or its tool sheet. Adjust circle/pill style, size and placement, drag it to a convenient edge, or reset its position. Use the persistent notification to hide it. Quick options are grouped into compact expandable sections with toggles. Android can limit overlays on protected screens.
Premium, rewarded time and plans
Home includes an optional rewarded ad that adds four hours of Premium after Google confirms the reward. Existing rewarded time is extended. Ad availability depends on network, consent and ad supply. There is no reward if an ad cannot load or is not completed.
Monthly, 3-month, 6-month and yearly subscriptions appear in Plans with prices returned by Google Play for your region. Read the checkout price, period and renewal terms before purchasing. Use Restore purchases with the same Play account after reinstalling. Cancel or manage an active plan in Google Play subscriptions. Removing the app does not cancel a plan.
Weather and schedules
Weather and sun times are optional. The app explains approximate-area location sharing with MET Norway before requesting permission. Turn on device location and internet, then enable the weather or sun option. Results are forecasts; polar areas may not have a daily sunrise/sunset. Weather data and privacy details.
For precise timers, allow Alarms and reminders if Android offers that permission. Without it, Android may delay the start. Android 15 and later can require you to open the app before restoring an overlay after a restart.
Troubleshooting
- Overlay will not start: check display-over-other-apps permission, open the app and retry. Battery/background restrictions may prevent scheduled starts.
- Recorder unavailable: check camera and microphone permissions and close another app using the camera. Try a lower recording quality.
- No sound in capture: enable microphone before starting and grant audio permission. Internal media-app audio is not supported.
- Ads unavailable: check connectivity, finish any consent form, and retry later. Premium suppresses ordinary ads.
- Plans cannot load: use the Google Play installation, sign in to Play Store, check internet and tap Retry. Local preview builds cannot reliably test real purchases.
- Weather cannot load: enable approximate location, check internet and retry later. The provider may rate-limit repeated requests.
- Large text or tablet layout: switch between compact view and large text in Settings. Android 7 and later are supported by the build; individual features depend on hardware and device policy.
